Spectati Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Spectati collects, uses, shares, and stores information when you use the Spectati applications, websites, updates, and related services that link to this policy.

Your app data is handled on your devices, through Apple services you enable, and through the third-party media, metadata, subtitle, and sync providers you choose to connect. Spectati does not operate its own backend for storing your media library, watch history, provider credentials, or playback activity.

This policy applies to Spectati-operated websites and apps. Third-party services you connect or that Spectati uses to operate the app, including Plex, Jellyfin, IPTV services, SIMKL, metadata providers, subtitle providers, Apple, PostHog, and Sentry, process information under their own privacy policies.

Depending on the features you use, Spectati may process device information, operating system, app version, diagnostics, crash and error details, subscription status, support communications, provider connection settings, profile settings, parental-control settings, and in-app preferences.

Spectati may process media library metadata, channel metadata, guide data, watch history, playback progress, ratings, favorites, hidden items, watchlist state, download state, subtitle choices, audio and subtitle delay settings, search activity, and other media-related data needed to provide synchronization, discovery, personalization, downloads, and playback features.

Provider credentials and tokens may be stored in CloudKit-backed provider records with field encryption where supported and cached locally using Apple Keychain technologies. App preferences and user state may be stored locally using Apple storage frameworks such as SwiftData and UserDefaults.

Crash and error diagnostics may include stack traces, error messages, app state, device and operating system details, app version, event timestamps, and related debugging context. Spectati configures diagnostics to avoid intentionally sending media contents, provider passwords, API keys, access tokens, playlist URLs, or full stream URLs.

If you connect Plex, Jellyfin, IPTV playlists, Xtream-compatible IPTV services, SIMKL, metadata providers, subtitle providers, or other integrations, Spectati may receive the account, token, server, library, channel, playback, metadata, subtitle, or sync information those services make available to the app.

When you connect Plex, you sign in with your Plex account through the plex.tv authentication service. Spectati receives an authentication token together with the account, server, library, and playback information Plex makes available, and communicates with plex.tv and your Plex Media Servers to list servers, load libraries, play media, and sync watch state. Plex processes this information under its own privacy policy.

Spectati may use metadata and subtitle services such as TMDB, TVDB, OMDb, OpenSubtitles, IntroDB, and similar services to improve search, artwork, descriptions, recommendations, scores, intro detection, subtitles, and other media features.

Payments and subscription purchases are handled through Apple StoreKit or another authorized marketplace. Spectati may receive transaction status, renewal status, product tier information, expiration dates, and related subscription state, but not your full payment card number.

Spectati uses information to provide and maintain the app, connect to your providers, sync data across devices, enable subscriptions, improve recommendations, support downloads and playback, personalize the experience, support parental controls, troubleshoot issues, respond to support requests, comply with law, and improve reliability and security.

Spectati sends PostHog telemetry for diagnostics and product usage. Telemetry may include app and session lifecycle events, error events, provider and sync events, settings changes, download and subtitle events, SIMKL connection and sync events, favorite and watch-state actions, search events, media IDs, provider IDs, app-level identifiers, and playback-related events.

Spectati sends Sentry crash and error diagnostics so production crashes, repeated errors, regressions, and reliability issues can be detected, investigated, and fixed. Sentry events may include technical debugging context such as stack traces, device details, operating system version, app version, release identifier, and error frequency.

Spectati configures PostHog with the EU ingestion endpoint where available and configures Sentry to limit personal data where practical, including disabling default personally identifiable information collection in the app and applying server-side data scrubbing for sensitive fields. Telemetry and diagnostics are used to understand reliability, feature usage, and product quality; they are not used by Spectati to sell personal information or to build an advertising profile.

Spectati may share information with Apple services used for subscriptions, iCloud, CloudKit, and Keychain sync; analytics or diagnostics vendors such as PostHog and Sentry; customer support tools; and the third-party services you choose to connect, to the extent reasonably necessary to operate the app.

When you connect a provider or integration, Spectati sends requests and receives responses from that provider so the app can load libraries, play media, sync watch state, fetch metadata, search, retrieve subtitles, or perform the action you requested.

Spectati may also disclose information to comply with legal obligations, enforce its terms, protect users and the service, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or asset sale.

Because Spectati does not store your media library, watch history, provider credentials, or playback activity on Spectati-operated servers, retention for most app data is determined by local device storage, Apple iCloud or CloudKit sync you enable, Apple Keychain or iCloud Keychain, and the third-party providers you connect.

Telemetry and diagnostics retained by PostHog, Sentry, or other vendors are retained according to their service settings and legal requirements. You may contact Spectati to request deletion of telemetry or diagnostics associated with identifiers Spectati can reasonably locate.

Deleting the app, resetting app data, disconnecting providers, clearing provider data, or changing Apple iCloud settings may remove or stop syncing some data. Some information may remain with Apple or connected third-party services under their own retention rules.

Spectati uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information. Provider secrets stored in CloudKit-backed provider records are field-encrypted where supported and cached through Apple Keychain technologies where appropriate.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and Spectati cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your devices, Apple account, provider accounts, and provider servers secure.

You may be able to access, correct, delete, export, or limit certain information through the app, by disconnecting providers, by deleting local app data, through your connected provider, through Apple account and iCloud settings, or by contacting Spectati.

You can manage subscriptions through Apple. You can manage iCloud and CloudKit sync through Apple device and account settings. You can manage provider data through Plex, Jellyfin, IPTV, SIMKL, metadata, subtitle, and other connected services according to their own policies and controls.

If Spectati offers an analytics or diagnostics control, disabling it limits optional product analytics or diagnostics sent from the app. Some information may still be processed when necessary to provide the service, maintain security, comply with law, complete purchases, or respond to your requests.

Privacy rights vary by jurisdiction. Spectati will review and respond to requests as required by applicable law. Requests can be sent to [email protected].

Spectati is not directed to children and is not intended to collect personal information directly from children without appropriate authorization. Spectati includes profile and parental-control features that adults may use for household viewing, but those features do not make Spectati a child-directed service.

Telemetry may include profile identifiers, media IDs, or playback-related events. Adults should configure household profiles and connected providers appropriately. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Spectati in violation of applicable law, contact Spectati so the information can be reviewed and addressed.

Spectati and its vendors may process information in countries other than the country where you live. PostHog telemetry and Sentry diagnostics are configured for EU ingestion where available, but providers, support tools, Apple services, and other vendors may process information in other regions.

Where required, Spectati will use appropriate safeguards for cross-border data transfers.

Spectati may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If material changes are made, Spectati may provide notice through the app, website, or another appropriate method.
